Yet another gull...

Took a trip to lakeside country park today to do some geocaching with my mum and nan. Whilst there i got loads of photos i am happy with, one of which was of this black headed gull which was one of many that were flying low near the surface of the lake.

Greater black backed gull

I got the chance to take this photo purely by chance. I was walking back from the site of interest on the field trip that i was on on the south coast of England near Bournemouth. At the bottom of the hill, flying towards us from a the salt marsh toward open sea was the gull. Luckily i had my camera to hand and was able to capture this. It flew surprisingly close and was amazing to witness, i got to realise just how big they actually were.
